Located in its historic building in Eminönü since 2007, the Türkiye İş Bankası Museum has reopened its doors after a five-month extensive renovation.
The museum, which now welcomes visitors with a special exhibition in honor of İş Bankası’s 100th anniversary, reflects both the architectural heritage of its location and the development of the banking sector in Türkiye. The exhibition is curated by Associate Professor Y. Doğan Çetinkaya, with the exhibition design completed by Pattu Architecture. During the renovation, the museum building and exhibition layout were modernized, and new photos and documents were added to enrich the content.
The new exhibition is spread across two floors. On the ground floor, the establishment and development of the bank are narrated through documents and photographs, while the upper floor focuses on technological transformation, modern banking, and İş Bankası’s social responsibility projects. The "Bank of Economic Independence" section on the ground floor presents the bank's founding story, while the "Growth and Savings" section highlights how the bank promoted the concept of savings throughout Anatolia.
İş Bankası Deputy General Manager Suat Sözen spoke about the history of the museum, noting that the building was originally constructed as an Ottoman post office in 1892 and has been used as an İş Bankası branch since 1928. Sözen emphasized that the museum, in its renewed state, now presents İş Bankası’s century-long history with a modern exhibition format, adding that the exhibition features never-before-seen photographs from the İzmir Economic Congress.
