Designed by Feld72, Straussengasse 14 introduces a contemporary reinterpretation of Vienna’s traditional urban fabric. This mixed-use development integrates seamlessly with its historic surroundings while addressing the dynamic needs of modern living.
Incorporating a semi-timbered structure from 1907 that rises six meters, the design preserves the historical essence of the site. The heritage building becomes a focal point of the project, with recessed upper floors and a thoughtfully placed entrance that highlight its presence on the street. The development includes 13 apartments, two retail spaces, and two offices, all housed in a design that respects the site’s legacy.
Straussengasse 14 employs a modern architectural language while maintaining a visual and physical dialogue with its traditional neighbors. The façade, characterized by light-colored surfaces and understated details, conveys a sense of lightness, while generous windows flood interiors with natural light, providing residents with bright and comfortable spaces.
Inside, the adaptable layout caters to diverse user profiles. Spacious balconies and an inner courtyard establish a connection to nature, offering residents tranquil outdoor spaces in the urban environment.
This project exemplifies a harmonious convergence of the past and the present, emphasizing community-oriented living. Feld72’s approach demonstrates how architecture can transcend its functional role to foster social connections and preserve historical context.
