Saudi Arabia has presented the designs of Oxagon’s port and logistics center that will be “the World’s largest floating structure” once completed.
Oxagon project has one part on land and a greater part extends to Red Sea with a distinct octagon shape. Neom’s developers claim that the city’s floating part will be “world’s largest hovering structure”. Oxagon will be built as a port city at Red Sea to make use of Suez Canal seatrade.
The city is a part of the Vision 2030 plan introduced to diversify the economy of Saudi Arabia and decrease its reliance on petroleum.
It is anticipated that Oxagon will be redesigning the world’s industrial growth approach by caring for the environment while creating new employment opportunities and growth for Neom. This project is expected to be a focal part of global trade transactions as well as contributing to Saudi Arabia’s regional trade.
Besides Oxagon, the Neom project includes a luxurious island Sindalah designed by Luca Dini Design and Architecture, a ski center designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, UNStudio, Aedas, LAVA and Bureau Proberts and a 170 km city The Line designed by Trojena and Morphosis.
