The pandemic resistant office design “Ecotone” by architecture office Salon - Alper Derinboğaz has been featured in Time magazine.
Eloise Barry of Time magazine has published an article named “The Future of Work” which discusses new ways of resilient and sustainable work spaces and points to Salon’s “Ecotone” project. “Ecotone” is considered an important project along with Spotify London Headquarters and United Nations Geneva location. A design for Yıldız Technical University Teknopark innovation center, Ecotone is an inventive project that made the learnings from the pandemic central to its design.
When construction is completed in late 2023, the transitional space between teaching facilities will permeate a series of open co-working spaces with outdoor walkways, creating the kind of passive natural ventilation system that the World Health Organization says reduces the transmission risk of airborne viruses. Ecotone’s geothermal heating and cooling system is low emission, while the self-supporting structure—featuring columns resembling stalagmites and stalactites in caves—removes the need to lay intrusive foundations in the land. Fluid, glass-paneled walls and interior foliage allows for greater connection between workers inside the building and nature.
Salon’s “Ecotone” project is and will be one of our country’s honored projects with its innovative and outstanding solutions.
