Designer Melek Zeynep Bulut presented her latest work, "Duo", to art lovers at the London Design Festival from September 16-24, 2024.
Bulut, who draws inspiration from her synesthetic abilities, creates intersensory experiences in her designs. The "Duo" installation, exhibited at the Old Royal Naval College as part of the London Design Festival, offers a modern interpretation in a historic setting, blending architecture with art to create a truly immersive experience for visitors.
The rectangular prism-shaped work explores dualities such as inside and outside, day and night, and center versus periphery. Utilizing sensors, magnets, and acoustic reflectors, the installation dynamically responds to the physical reactions of visitors, inviting them not only to observe the piece but to become an active part of the experience.
Displayed within the expansive atmosphere of the Baroque-style Painted Hall, the installation creates an experience that broadens visitors' perceptions. Like Bulut’s previous works, "Duo" continues her mission of transforming abstract concepts into physical, interactive art.
