The Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) has issued an open call for projects to be showcased at the Turkey Pavilion at the 19th Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition, one of the world's most prestigious architectural events.
The 19th edition of the Venice Biennale International Architecture Exhibition will take place from May 10 to November 23, 2025. This year, Turkey will participate for the sixth time in the Biennale, with the pavilion coordinated by IKSV, under the auspices of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with the support of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In the first phase of the open call, IKSV is seeking project proposals that address current architectural issues, offer interdisciplinary approaches, and present a strong curatorial narrative. In addition to having a powerful visual presentation, the theme of the project should be clear and accessible. The call is open to multinational teams, provided they are led by a team leader from Turkey.
IKSV will select three projects to advance to the second phase, where the teams will be expected to provide more detailed proposals, including timelines, working methods, and budgets. The selected team will be responsible for all curatorial aspects of the exhibition, working in coordination with the selection committee and the IKSV team.
Applications must be submitted to IKSV by 6:00 PM on September 11, 2024. The open call is open to curators, architects, artists, historians, designers, theorists, critics, and professionals working in related fields.
