Troy Museum in Çanakkale and Odunpazarı Modern Museum (OMM) in Eskişehir, which are among the museums that stand out especially with their original designs in Turkey, won the European Museum of the Year Special Award given by the European Museum Forum, EMF. The Troy Museum designed by Yalın Architecture was awarded for 2020, and the Odunpazarı Modern Museum, which was designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA), was awarded for 2021.
The European Museum of the Year Awards, which are given annually under the auspices of the European Council, and are among the respected awards in the field of museology, were postponed due to the pandemic last year. Therefore, recently given awards were announced to cover two years, 2020 and 2021. Marlen Mouliou, the chairman of the jury who deemed the Troy Museum which was opened in October 2018 and the OMM that was completed in 2019 worthy of the awards, stated “an intercultural platform worldwide that succeeded in creating an open and inclusive environment for all” for OMM.
