Theme for the 2026-2027 Mikro Mekan National Design Competition: "Emergency!"
The final application deadline for the Micro Space National Design Competition, whose 2026-2027 theme is determined as "Urgent!", has been announced as November 1, 2026.
Micro space refers to living or working units that have physically limited space but do not compromise on functionality. This approach, which goes beyond the concept of a "small room," aims to use limited spaces in the most efficient way with smart design solutions.
Production paradigms transformed by digitalization and artificial intelligence show that in the future, small, flexible, and scalable spaces can offer strong solutions instead of large facilities. In this respect, Micro Space represents not only today's but also the future's design vision.
The 2026-2027 topic of the Micro Space National Design Competition has been determined as "URGENT". The earthquakes on February 6, 2023, revealed how fragile not only buildings but also the processes of accessing shelter needs after disasters are. The prolonged construction and delivery processes of permanent housing showed that temporary units lacking basic human needs could turn into a second disaster lasting months for the victims.
Based on this need, the competition invites professionals and students to design an "Post-Disaster Living Module." While emphasizing that every idea participating in the competition is valuable, it is aimed that the projects can be realized according to producibility criteria.
