Seçkin Pirim’s “Yesterday and Today” Exhibition Meets Art Lovers at Şerefiye Cistern

Seçkin Pirim, one of the prominent names in contemporary art whose works we featured at ADDO Showroom in collaboration with Dirimart, is now meeting art lovers at Şerefiye Cistern with his exhibition titled “Yesterday and Today.”

One of Istanbul’s impressive cultural venues with a history of 1600 years, Şerefiye Cistern is hosting Seçkin Pirim’s works from June 12 to August 31. The exhibition invites visitors to a unique exploration between past and present by combining the powerful atmosphere of light, water, and historic architecture with Pirim’s modern forms.

Held at Şerefiye Cistern, operated by Kültür AŞ, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the exhibition offers a multi-layered experience that brings together the historic texture of the venue with contemporary art. The works positioned inside and in front of the cistern create a strong visual dialogue with the space through reflections on the water surface and special lighting design.

Seçkin Pirim’s modular system-based works reveal the balance between order and fragility through the concepts of repetition, layering, expansion, and contraction. While the artist’s forms point to the idea of construction, they also embody possibilities of transformation and dissolution.

“Yesterday and Today,” where historical architecture and contemporary art meet in the same atmosphere, offers visitors a powerful artistic experience between past and present in the enchanting ambiance of Şerefiye Cistern.

The exhibition can be visited at Şerefiye Cistern until August 31.
