https://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2025/may/06/national-gallery-sainsbury-wing As part of its 200th anniversary celebrations, London’s National Gallery has completed a major £85 million renovation of the Sainsbury Wing. Originally opened in 1991 with a postmodern design by Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown, the wing was often criticised for its dark and maze-like entrance. Renowned architect Annabelle Selldorf led the redesign, aiming to improve accessibility, circulation, and brightness throughout the entrance and gallery spaces. The renovation enhances the visitor experience while preserving the architectural character of the original structure.
