Volker Eysing

With its original design vision and international experience, it continues to add aesthetics and functionality to projects.

After completing his education at Münster Design School and working as a carpenter apprentice, Volker Eysing gained a strong practical foundation in materials and production processes. He then completed his studies in industrial/structural design under the guidance of Prof. Dieter Zimmer at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and Design. Following his graduation project in 2004, which involved designing a functional swivel chair with an automatically adjustable backrest, he opened his own studio as a freelance designer. Specializing in office furniture, Eysing developed the IOS chair family in close collaboration with Drabert, based in Minden.

"The function of something usually determines the initial idea; the subsequent form only develops this idea."

In the later stages of his career, he created award-winning designs for international companies such as Kinnarps, Martin Stoll, Sitag, and Interstuhl. Eysing's design language, which focuses on the "readability" of products in his work, is based on a clear, rational, and above all, easily understandable structure by the user.
