The presentation of the “Hope – Elazığ” project, which was carried out under the leadership of Yeditepe University Faculty of Architecture and Emre Arolat Architecture, with the cooperation of Elazığ Municipality and Elazığ Chamber of Commerce, took place in past months. The project aims to revive social life and contribute to the region’s economy after the earthquake, which hit Elazığ on January 24, 2020.
One of the essential features of ‘Hope-Elazığ,’ which is aimed to erase some of the effects of the Elazığ earthquake in the city, is that it is carried out as a collective project with the participation of architecture students and graduates. The project is considered as a kind of voluntary social responsibility project with a studio composed of Emre Arolat, Assoc. Dr. Ece Ceylan Baba, the students and graduates of Yeditepe University Faculty of Architecture. Spreading over an area of 60 hectares and aiming for a sustainable life, the project consists of 500 living units, as well as units such as a health center, education and culture areas, ecological water park, city archive, and short-term accommodation units on the trade and recreation axis of two and a half kilometers.
