VENEDİK MİMARLIK BİENALİ 1 YIL ARANIN SONUNDA AÇILDI.

VENICE ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE OPENED AFTER 1 YEAR BREAK.

One of the world's oldest and leading architecture events, the Venice Biennale 17th International Architecture Exhibition was postponed last year due to the pandemic. Curated by architect Hashim Sarkis, who announced the theme 'How will we live together?' in July 2019, the biennale opened on May 22. This year, the Turkey Pavilion, coordinated by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), features a project titled Architecture as Measure, curated by Neyran Turan.

The Architecture as Measure project, hosted by the Turkey Pavilion coordinated by İKSV and co-sponsored by Schüco Turkey and VitrA, aims to create alternative discussions about architecture’s own processes in light of the climate crisis we are experiencing. With its physical installation and continuously updated website, the project focuses on the relationship between the environment and processes ranging from construction to maintenance, resource use to supply chains in Turkey. The project emphasizes that architectural contracts, zoning laws, technical standards, specifications, or mining; supply chains, construction assemblies, labor, maintenance, or inspection customs not only leave deep marks on the physical practice of architecture but also reflect our values and assumptions about what “environment” means for architecture.
