TÜRK MİMARİSİNİN KISA TARİHİ

A Brief History of Turkish Architecture

Prof. Dr. Yaşar Çoruhlu is known for his work on Central and Inner Asian Turkish art and archaeology, Turkish mythology, iconography and symbols in Turkish art, and Asian and Anatolian Turkish art. His book, A Brief History of Turkish Architecture, which resulted from over 30 years of research and various study trips in Central Asia and Turkey, has been published and is now available to readers.

In this book, Yaşar Çoruhlu examines Turkish history from an architectural perspective, covering a vast region of Central Eurasia where various Turkish tribes have existed, starting almost from 3000 BC up to the present day.

Çoruhlu studies the reflection of the Turks' lifestyle on architecture, not just as a nomadic community but also in their semi-settled and settled ways of life described as a “mobile lifestyle.” He offers readers a resourceful work. The book, especially useful for art historians, architectural historians, and archaeologists, explains the foundation and components on which Turkish architecture was born, how it emerged in Inner Asia, and how it spread to the Central Eurasian regions inhabited by Turks since pre-Christian times, with examples. Yaşar Çoruhlu addresses the dynamics and sources of this architecture, which spread over a vast geography over millennia, together with the lifestyles. This work, published by Alfa Publishing, is not only a reference book but also one that enthusiasts of the subject will enjoy exploring.
