OSLO’NUN YENİ ULUSAL MÜZESİ AÇILIYOR

OSLO'S NEW NATIONAL MUSEUM IS OPENING

Designed by Kleihues + Schuwerk, the new Oslo National Museum of Art, Architecture, and Design has announced its opening date. With an area of 54,600 square meters, the New National Museum will be the largest art museum in the Scandinavian countries and is planned to open in Oslo on June 11, 2022.

The museum, which will bring together the collections of the Old National Gallery, the Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Norwegian Museum of Decorative Arts and Design under one roof, offers a completely new experience in terms of classical art, contemporary art, architecture, and design.

Located at Oslo’s historic Vestbanen Harbor, the most striking part of the museum is the large exhibition hall with a translucent facade on top of the building: The Light Hall. Sitting above two floors, The Light Hall, with an area of 2,400 square meters, will host major exhibitions of international significance.

The design of the project, selected about 10 years ago through a competition, harmonizes with the city’s fabric… Similar to the Oslo Opera House, there is a viewing terrace on the roof, offering visitors a magnificent view of Akershus Fortress, Rådhusplassen, and the Oslo fjord. The museum square in front of the main entrance will be an urban meeting point with resting areas, cafés, restaurants, and events.

The new Oslo National Museum, where Edvard Munch’s most famous paintings such as The Scream (1893) and Madonna (1894) can be seen, will be the largest art museum in the Scandinavian countries.
