The Joy of Riding a Bicycle at the Top of a Tree in Italy

Welcome to the Tree Path, an amazing route elevated to the tree canopy for pedestrians and bicycles, hosting more than a thousand trees.

The Tree Path, realized in collaboration between CRA (Carlo Ratti Associati) and the non-profit GAL Terre del Po, is an elevated bike path supported by parallel trunks acting as columns, stretching among the trees… Located in the countryside of Northern Italy and extending to Sabbioneta, one of the country’s most famous UNESCO World Heritage sites, the project combines nature with technological elements. People can walk or cycle on this raised platform among the treetops.

The Tree Path is designed using Baubotanik forms. For the project, 1000 special trees are planted, and their growth becomes a very important and artistic component of the design. Rising six meters above the ground, the Tree Path offers an extraordinary experience. The use of trees as architectural elements in the construction was designed in collaboration with Office for Living Architecture (OLA), one of the world’s leading experts in this field.

One of the remarkable features of the project is the digital sensors placed along the path… These sensors monitor every environmental factor, from air quality to tree growth. The artificial intelligence of the Mindicity Urban Intelligence platform is used to create a perfect balance throughout this natural platform.
