International Award for Two Museums
Among the museums in Turkey that stand out especially for their original designs, the Troya Museum in Çanakkale and the Odunpazarı Modern Museum (OMM) in Eskişehir have won the European Museum of the Year Special Award given by the European Museum Forum, EMF. The Troya Museum, designed by Yalın Architecture, was awarded for the year 2020, while the Odunpazarı Modern Museum, designed by Kengo Kuma and Associates (KKAA), was honored for 2021.The European Museum of the Year Awards, given annually under the auspices of the Council of Europe and considered prestigious in the field of museology, were postponed last year due to the pandemic. Therefore, the awards recently announced cover two years, 2020 and 2021. Marlen Mouliou, chair of the jury that honored the Troya Museum, opened in October 2018, and the OMM, completed in 2019, described OMM as ‘a publicly accessible and inclusive environment that has succeeded in creating a worldwide intercultural platform.’
