ADDO Signature in the Award-Winning Designist's "Lamartine Hotel" Project

The furniture in Designist’s Lamartine Hotel Taksim project, which won an award at the iF Design Awards 2022, bears the signature of ADDO.

Led by interior architect Aslı Arıkan Dayıoğlu, Designist, which carries out interior design projects on an international scale, won an award in the “Hotels, Spas, Restaurants, Bars” category at the iF Design Awards 2022 with the Lamartine Hotel project. Designist received its award at the ceremony held on May 16 in Berlin at the Friedrichstadt-Palast. By using ADDO-signed furniture in this proud project, Designist has established another successful partnership with our brand.

The Lamartine Hotel in Taksim Talimhane was renovated with an additional annex. This added building, named after the poet Alphonse de Lamartine who lived in Istanbul in the 1800s and also gave his name to the street, once belonged to Deniz Kızı Eftalya, one of Istanbul’s former vocal artists. The architect of the buildings is Arif Hikmet Koyunoğlu, known for designing the Ethnography Museum and the Turkish Hearth in Ankara, as well as being a master in painting, sculpture, and plaster decorations. This historical-cultural context and the stories of these two artists greatly inspired the interior design project undertaken by Designist.

Designist abstracted the wave movements of musical tones and reflected them in the hotel’s interiors. The strong influence of wave forms is felt on the lobby ceiling, while specially cut natural stones were used on the floor. All walls were created with rounded, cornerless circular forms. Neutral color tones were used throughout the Lamartine Hotel, where organic forms dominate. Light color tones, open wardrobes, and bathroom systems were included to make the hotel rooms appear more spacious and airy. Silhouettes of women recalling the memory of Deniz Kızı Eftalya, as well as records and photographs belonging to Eftalya, were placed on the walls. The aim was to create a calm and peaceful city hotel at Lamartine Hotel.
