I-AM'İN TASARLADIĞI İŞ MEKAN, 2023 SBID ÖDÜLLERİ FİNALİNDE

WORKSPACE DESIGNED BY I-AM, FINALIST IN THE 2023 SBID AWARDS

The project “İş Mekan: A Destination Inspired by Life,” designed by the International Experience Design Agency I-AM for İş Bankası, reached the finals at the 2023 SBID International Design Awards, becoming the only project from Turkey to make the shortlist.

Designed as a new generation living space, İş Mekan will compete in the Retail Design category at the SBID International Design Awards against inspiring projects from around the world. The project brings together banking services with the brands and platforms within the İş Bankası Group; it is designed around a concept that centers on working, socializing, experiencing different activities, and shopping needs in line with daily life expectations. At İş Mekan, alongside the İş Bankası Nişantaşı Branch, there is a corner for İş Bankası Cultural Publications, the first physical sales point of İş Bankası’s online shopping platform Pazarama, and a café created in collaboration with Coffee Department.

Emre Kuzlu, Co-Founder of I-AM, stated that the starting point of the project was the concept of empathy highlighted in the company’s 2022 trend reports. Despite the increasing use of digital channels, banks still maintain the importance of direct communication with their customers, but the spaces where this communication takes place need to be redefined. Kuzlu describes the project as follows: “We approached the İş Mekan project from this perspective and created a sustainable concept design that meets the needs of different target groups. İş Mekan is a new generation living space under the umbrella of İş Bankası that will bring together students, entrepreneurs, public employees, and even families to build a community. The İş Mekan app, which we designed as a complementary element of the user journey in the space, will enhance access to this space and enrich the experiences of visitors with strong digital habits.”

The SBID International Design Awards, open to applicants from over 85 countries worldwide, is one of the most prestigious platforms aiming to reward excellence in the interior design industry. It seeks to recognize, reward, and celebrate global design talent across a wide range of categories in interior architecture, product design, and application fields.
