HENNIG LARSEN, REDESIGNS THE OFFICE
Henning Larsen defines the future social office with the 105 Victoria Street project. The famous firm, representing the Scandinavian design school, has its first project in London at 105 Victoria Street; located in the heart of Westminster, just a short walk from Buckingham Palace.
The uncertain working conditions that have lasted for almost two years due to the pandemic have led many to question the future of the office. Although some have been productive working from home, the negative impact of the lack of activity and social interaction on mental and physical health is undeniable. Taking these factors into account, the project is designed not only to include office spaces but also to reinterpret the typical office foyer as an urban square. Various indoor and outdoor activity opportunities allow for a more active workday from start to finish. 105 Victoria Street also aims to enhance urban spaces with areas for collaboration, celebration, and relaxation.
Jacob Kurek, one of the firm's responsible partners, describes the project as follows: “We aimed to create an active urban destination, a small public space equal to the city itself in terms of energy and diversity, right in the heart of London.”
The design also brings a macro perspective to sustainability and aims to achieve net zero carbon by 2026. Construction of the project, which offers a prototype of what the active and social office of the future could be, will begin in August 2022.
