Indonesia Bogor's New Creativity Center
Bogor Creative Hub was designed by the Indonesia-based architecture firm Local Architecture Bureau (LAB) to be a source of creative energy. The project, notable for its C-shaped curved architecture, aims to provide an inspiring, open sharing platform and co-working space for people in creative industries.
The building, located in Bogor, Indonesia, houses an exhibition hall, co-working spaces, an administrative office, an auditorium, workshop areas, and a café. The C-shaped form that wraps around the courtyard like a band gives the building an elegant and aesthetic dynamism. The site overlooks a 200-year-old historic building constructed during the Dutch Colonial Period.
Local Architecture Bureau designed the structure to be accessible from all directions. With its sloping roof and layered design, this single-piece building seamlessly connects the land it sits on from end to end. All sections inside the facility face terraces used as common areas. The repeating row of columns along the terrace welcomes visitors and provides a smooth transition into the interior.
Gemawang Swaribathoro from Local Architecture Bureau explains their approach to the creative hub: “We tried to show respect for the harmony between the historic building and the green forest by offering a simple, calm, non-provocative yet flexible design for the creative spirit.
The concept was to make this building a blank canvas to be filled by the creative spirit and to activate it with all its colors and feelings. The park located between the historic building and the creative hub becomes an outdoor stage. The overall design treats the entire facility as a catalyst that is as open as possible to the public and visitors.”
