The LEGO Headquarters Building Designed by CF MØLLER ARCHITECTS Has Opened
The striking new Lego headquarters building in Billund, Denmark, has been opened. Designed by the company’s BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), this impressive 54,000-square-meter office building near the Lego House visitor center comfortably hosts 2,000 Lego employees.
Imagination, fun, creativity, care, learning, and quality… CF Møller Architects designed Lego’s new headquarters building staying true to these core company values. The headquarters consists of eight different blocks, each three or four stories high.
Giant versions of Lego bricks decorate the building’s exterior. On the roof, a pair of large brick-shaped meeting rooms stand out. The building also features multiple green roofs and even a mini golf course. In the areas where the building blocks connect, stairs in different colors pay a stylish tribute to Lego’s signature colors. A circular block that protrudes from the building includes a highly modern and functional cafeteria area.
This new center, called the campus, also includes a large “Atrium” that Lego refers to as the “Campus Square.” This four-story atrium is illuminated by skylights; the upper floors feature wide curved staircases and balconies. Three large Lego bricks covered with images of toy characters hang from the ceiling, stylishly blending fun and architecture in true Lego fashion. The lower floor of the other buildings houses the People House event spaces, a gym, hotel accommodations, and a store.
The headquarters is a key part of a series of new developments built in Billund, where Lego’s company center has been located since the 1930s.
