THIS OFFICE WORK LIFE IS A REAL ROLLERCOASTER!
Great Exhibition Stockholm designed the world's first office rollercoaster, named “frontal lobe.” This interesting and creative design adds color and fun to office life.
This rollercoaster, brought to life by Great Exhibition Stockholm to make a difference in workspaces, is conceived as a whole along with both office and social interaction areas.
The 60-meter-long rollercoaster track passes through the seating areas, kitchen, and bar on the ground floor of the office. Made of red lacquered steel, the structure circles around the toilets in the center of the ground floor. Designed to integrate with the office's interior design, the rollercoaster consists of a single-person cylindrical vehicle that moves on curved steel rail construction. Elevated on steel supports bolted to the ground, the vehicle rises up to four meters before being released to complete its circuit.
Per Cromwell, the creative director of The Great Exhibition, explained, “The idea of adding a rollercoaster to our office emerged years ago as what many would call an impossible dream, a fun but unachievable and, to be honest, somewhat silly idea.”
“In a world where everything is optimized, predictable, and somewhat soulless, increasingly driven by artificial intelligence and algorithms, the rollercoaster represents something random, spontaneous, and perhaps more real than anything else.”
Cromwell states that the rollercoaster has become part of the daily routine of studio employees since it started operating.
