BAĞDAT CADDESİ YENİDEN...

BAGHDAD AVENUE AGAIN...

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has started the first phase of a renovation project aimed at providing relief to the heavily trafficked Bağdat Avenue.

The project, which will be carried out over a total area of 32,000 square meters, will include wide sidewalks, improved pedestrian crossings, and modern urban furniture.

With the Kadıköy Bağdat Avenue Phase 1 Regulation Project, the avenue will be revitalized with seating and resting areas, exhibition halls, and bike paths. This project aims to enhance the public nature of Bağdat Avenue.

Six main objectives will be prioritized for the avenue. These objectives include widening the sidewalks, eliminating elevation differences, facilitating crossings, preserving and reorganizing the cultural values along the avenue, introducing new art focal points, documenting intangible cultural assets before they are lost, and making them accessible.

Providing information about the work, İBB Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay stated, “Bağdat Avenue will be the face of modern Istanbul. We are starting the construction of the first 1,000-meter phase of the project designed with a new bike path, wider sidewalks, improved pedestrian crossings, and modern urban furniture. While preserving the existing green structure, we are also creating new green areas alongside social gathering spaces. Additionally, we are renewing the entire infrastructure of the avenue from start to finish.”
