6. MARDİN BİENALİ BAŞLADI

6. MARDIN BIENNALE HAS STARTED

The 6th edition of the Mardin Biennial, which was first held in 2010 with the aim of transforming Mardin into one of the centers of contemporary art, will meet the audience from May 10 to June 10, 2024.

This year's biennial, organized under the theme "Further Away" and curated by Ali Akay, aims to contribute to the visibility of artistic production in the region by spreading across Mardin's historical sites and daily life. The opening of the biennial took place at one of the main venues, the German Headquarters. In his opening speech, Ali Akay expressed his gratitude to the biennial directors Döne Otyam and Hakan Irmak, as well as the entire biennial team.

The Mardin Biennial creates a meeting space for artists, art lovers, and art professionals through contemporary art, offering various artistic events within the city's unique architecture and culture. This year, the conceptual framework of the biennial addresses issues related to nature, culture, plants, animals, and different human communities by looking at the globalized past of societies. The biennial focuses on these issues by providing opportunities for artistic observation, reflection, and creation, seeking solutions.

The Mardin Biennial brings together works from many artists from countries such as France, Italy, Morocco, the USA, Argentina, the Netherlands, the UK, Brazil, and Germany. The exhibition features works by artists such as Ahmet Öğüt, Ali Kazma, Aslı Çavuşoğlu, Ayşe Erkmen, and many more. Additionally, as part of the "Invited" project, where actors or institutions from the art world are invited to exhibit, the "Müşterek" exhibition can also be seen.
