Designs Inspired by Nature Will Take Center Stage in 2023

Can Küccük, founder of KüccüK Architects, evaluated the design trends of 2023. According to Can Küccük, this year colors and materials inspired by nature will bring life to interiors.

Can Küccük stated that in 2023, we will see more of the endless possibilities of green and blue in interiors, and wood in its various tones will also take center stage.

The architect, mentioning that the concept of sustainability has deeply entered our lives, says: “It seems that this awareness will continue to reflect in our material choices day by day. Wood, one of the most useful materials in human history, will continue to decorate our living spaces in 2023. Seeing the many tones of various types of wood will enrich the spaces.”

Talking about the pandemic being a serious barrier between us and nature, Can Küccük adds that humanity’s need for nature has increased: “With this awareness, we are all witnessing the flow of green into interiors. When choosing plants, there needs to be a mutual harmony between the plant and the user. Therefore, we designers need to make plant recommendations.”

Can Küccük also points out that artistic production and exhibiting art pieces is one of today’s growing trends, and that art works purchased by users according to their budgets or their own creations will hold an important place in design.

The architect mentions that another trend emerging in 2023 will be spaces with open kitchens and minimal wall elements, and that kitchens, once considered “women’s work areas,” are now spaces used by every individual living in the home without gender distinction. According to Can Küccük, this year we will continue to see L-shaped sofas, a very comfortable choice, frequently in designs.
