The National Gallery in London has transformed the Sainsbury Wing with a major renovation project worth £85 million as part of its 200th anniversary celebrations. The wing, designed by postmodern architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown in 1991, had been criticized over time for its dark and complex entrance. The new design, led by renowned architect Annabelle Selldorf, provides the gallery with a brighter, more spacious, and accessible entrance area. While enhancing the visitor experience, the architectural character of the building is also preserved.
